WoW Classic Scholomance Dungeon Guide
Scholomance dungeon is located in the south-eastern section of the western Plague lands. These lands are on the island called Caer’Darrow, which consists of undead and humanoid mobs. Only a team of five players are allowed to enter the dungeon at once.
In the olden times, the island held a runestone that was a sacred item for the Quel’Thalas Elves, but as time passed, it was destroyed and was used to create the Altar of Storms. The fortress was restored later and transformed into a necromancy school by the Barov family and was named Scholomance. It is now a place where spirits and ghosts reside to seek vengeance against the ones who did them wrong. However, the peace can be restored and the responsibility is bestowed upon you.
Loots
You can find a good number of loots inside the dungeon, like Blood Mail Regalia, Cadaverous Garb, Death Bone Guardian, and Necropile Raiment. Aside from these, you may also find Tier 0 or Dungeon Set 1 armour pieces. The final boss in the dungeon can drop all the helms of these sets, along with a chance of obtaining Pattern: Robe of the Void and Headmaster’s Charge. Completion of the dungeon is also one of the requirements needed to start many quests like Warlock Dread Steed.
Recommended Classes
Since the dungeon only allows five players in a team, you should follow this strategy: You’ll need a tank that can hold threads and absorb damages while keeping the mobs away from killing the healer and DPS players. Although DPS from any class will do, the best ones are; Mage, Rogue, Hunter, Warrior and Warlock, so choosing any of the three will do. Finally, you’ll need a healer that helps keep the team alive and running. A recommendation would be to bring a Priest Healer, as they have healing kits and skills like Power Word: Fortitude. However, you can also make the best use out of Shamans, Druids and Paladins.
During the raid, times may occur where the team will have to fight against several mobs at once, so using Cleave and AOE can be helpful. You may also use the skills Crowd Control, but it will have to be cast strategically. The skill Turn Undead for Paladins are known to be helpful, and likewise, Sap for Rogues, Mind Control and Shackle Undead for Priests, Polymorph for Mages, and Fear for Warlocks. In terms of tanks, protection paladins are known to get through easily in the dungeon.

As a member of the Horde faction, you can start from the Undercity and travel towards the Light’s Hope Chapel or the Tarren Mill (Alternative), and as a member of the Alliance faction, you start from reach your destination from Chill Wind Point, Aerie Peak, or the Light’s Hope Chapel. Upon reaching, you’ll notice a huge locked gate which can be opened with a Skeleton Key, Powerful Seaforium Charge, Rogue’s Lockpicking Skill (280+ required), or a player on the inside can open it using a torch.
Dungeon Bosses
Blood Steward of Kirtonos
A level 57 boss found in the Reliquary, wielding the abilities; Curse of Impotence, Curse of Weakness and Paralyzing Poison. Always watch out for the skill Paralyzing Poison, as it can stun you for eight seconds, and the rest of her curses can be dispelled by a Druid or Mage.
Kirtonos the Herald
A level 60 boss found out on the porch, and he can only be summoned by a player having the item Blood of Innocents. Kritonos has the same abilities as Blood Steward but has to be defeated in a different strategic manner. In the first form (human form), his curses can easily be dispelled by a Druid or Mage, and in the second form (gargoyle form), it turns into a tank himself, so it’s best to have your tank maintain the incoming aggro.
Jandice Barov
A level 61 boss summoned by using a torch on the south wall of where she resides. Jandice can use Curse of Blood and Banish, which are both powerful. During the battle, she will remake copies of herself and scatter them across the room, which will then need to take down one by one. Another way is to ignore the copies and just focus on the boss itself. The rest is easy and lies upon the Mage or Druid to dispel her Cruse of Blood skill.
Rattlegore
A level 61 boss found in the Great Ossuary’s Basement and can cast Knock Away, Strike and War Stomp. The best strategy is to pull him in an open area and make sure to keep your distance as his melee-based abilities are quite powerful. Make the tank lure the boss toward him, and use skills like Sunder Armour or Expose Armour to bring him down easily. Upon death, the boss will drop a Viewing Room Key that grants access to the second instance.
Marduk Backpool
A level 58 boss found in the Viewing Room, and wield the abilities; Cleave, Defiling Aura and Shadow Shield. You can take him down by using a tank to lure him, but do make sure that the tank isn’t affected by the boss’s ability to Defile Aura, and keep an eye out for Shadow Shield, as it deals a lot of damage to the target. Other than that, the kill should be pretty smooth.
Vectus
A level 60 boss found in the viewing room, similar to Marduk Backpool, and wields the ability to cast Blast Wave and Flamestrike. The only thing you need to watch out for while facing him is his AOE abilities that cast fire-based spells, so make sure not to be anywhere near those.
Ras Frostwhisper
A level 60 boss found in the passage that leads through the Viewing Room and can use Chill Nova, Frost Armour, Fear, Freeze and Frost Bolt Volley. For starters, make sure that the surroundings are cleared, and spacious enough to fight. Rest, watch out for the frost spells, as he many of those, especially Fear, as it runs for up to 20 seconds on a single target, and may result in the team’s flow being interrupted.
Kormok
A level 60 boss summoned in Ras Frostwhisper’s room with the help of the item Brazier of Beckoning. The item can be obtained during the Tier 0.5 questline, and even though you’re not tasked to kill the boss at first, you’ll be able to receive the item at the end of the questline.
Instructor Malicia
A level 60 boss found in the southern-most room on the upper floor of the dungeon. She can use Call of the Grave, Corruption, Heal, Renew and Slow. An interruption rotation is necessary to kill her, as she carries abilities to heal herself. The rest lies upon the Mage or Druid to dispel her curse spells.
Doctor Theolen Krastinov
A level 60 boss found in the eastern-most room on the upper floor of the dungeon, which is called the Hall of the Damned. Doctor Theolen can use Knock Away, Rend and increase his speed by 50%. The best way is to make your tank lure him against the wall, while the other members attack to kill him.
Lorekeeper Polkelt
A level 60 boss found in the northern-most room on the upper floor of the dungeon. Lorekeeper can use Corrosive Acid, Noxious Catalyst and Volatile Infection, allowing him to damage the players nearby him. A good strategy is to have a party member lure him by jumping off the upper floor railing so that he starts to run around the stairs. From there, the tank can take over and the rest of the members can attack him from the upper floor at a safe distance. The reason to keep your distance is because of his abilities, and make sure not to get caught in by Volatile Infection, and if it casts, spread out.
The Ravenian
A level 60 boss found in the southern-most room on the lower floor of the dungeon, which is also known as The Barov Family Vault. Revenian can cast Cleave, Knock Away, Sundering Cleave and Trample. He uses melee-based attacks which are quite powerful, so just make sure to keep an eye out for them and have the tank generate a good amount of thread before engaging him. The rest is just luring and killing.
Lord Alexei Barov
A level 60 boss found in the eastern-most room on the lower floor of the dungeon. Lord Alexei can use Immolate, Unholy Aura and Veil of Shadow. He is known as the toughest boss in the dungeon of Scholomance, with two other bodyguards accompanying him during the battle. The guards are easy to kill, as you can just CC them with Turn Undead or Shackle Undead skills.
During the ability Unholy Aura, make sure that the tank pulls him away from the other party members as it deals a lot of damage to everyone near it. When Veil of Shadows casts, cleanse the magic with the help of a Mage or Druid so that the damage dealt is reduced.
Lady Illucia Barov
A level 60 boss found in the northern-most room on the lower floor of the dungeon. Lady Illucia can cast Curse of Agony, Dominate Mind and Fear. Out of all these abilities, the one you should be concerned out is Dominate Mind, as it is a mind control ability and stuns any player who is hit by it.
Dark Master Gandling
A level 61 boss found in the centre room of the Lower Floor, and he only spawns once the six previous bosses have been defeated. The Dark Master can cast Arcane Missiles, Curse of the Dark Master and Shadow Shield, along with a spell called Shadow Portal that allows him to teleport a player next door.
Start with your tank keeping the boss in the centre of the room, and the Ranged DPS attacking from a distance near the stairs. Now and then, the boss will teleport players to an adjoining room, where they will have to defeat the enemies residing there to get out, so watch out for when your healer or tank gets teleported, and plan accordingly. Other than that, interrupt formation can help when Arcane Missiles casts, and keep your Druid and Mage ready to dispel the spell Improved Shadow Bolt. Rest all depends on how quickly you can kill him, as he has a lot of HP, so it may take time.
Trash Mobs
The dungeon also consists of trash mobs like Reanimated Corpses, who rises back every 10 seconds after being killed, Risen Aberrations, who are immune to magic that isn’t holy, and Plagued Ghouls, who throws out poison just before dying, resulting in 350 nature damage per second, if you’re hit by it.
