With the exciting launch of Skull and Bones Season 3, and the game now available on Steam, many new players have joined our seas, eager to plunder and upgrade their ships. For the veteran pirates among us, obtaining materials has become second nature, but for new recruits, finding those essential resources to build and upgrade your fleet can be a challenge. This guide is here to help!

I’ll walk you through the best places to gather crafting materials, how to farm efficiently, and the best routes for acquiring ship upgrades and rare items. Whether you're looking for lacquer, glass, or the elusive dragon scales, I’ve got you covered!

Crafting Materials 101: Basics for Ship and Gun Upgrades

Shellac and Lacquer

One of the first things you’ll need for upgrading your ships from Seasons 1 and 2 is Shellac, which refines into Lacquer. The best place to farm Shellac is Sunni Capital. Here’s what you need to do:

· Form a group of three to increase your drop rates significantly.

· Start by plundering Sunni Capital and then sail down to Sangad for even more Shellac.

· Whenever you’re overloaded with loot, drop it off at the Ruins of Luck Kuhan before heading back out. Rinse and repeat until you’ve stocked up.

· Bonus: While farming Shellac, you’ll also gather some Glass and Rubber.

If you're not in the mood for plundering, you can also purchase a couple of Shellac from the Sangad Capital or Sunni Capital.

Glass

For Glass, which is another critical material, you'll want to sail around the Naga Sea and Lamc Pass. DMC ships patrol these areas and will drop plenty of glass, making it an ideal spot for farming. Here's a strategy:

· Follow the DMC ships along the Straits near Duster and Kakok Teropong.

· You can also purchase Glass from capitals scattered in the region.

Tar

When it comes to Tar, Laasd Capital is your go-to. This area, located just east of St Anne, is one of the best places to plunder Tar. Additionally, there are nearby ships that carry Tar, and you can purchase a limited supply from St Emil. Tar is used to refine into Wood Pitch for ship upgrades.

Sand and Dry Casting

For Sand, which refines into Dry Casting Sand, sail to Jwa and plunder the ships of Ungan—these ships frequently carry Sand. If you are in a rush and want to avoid plundering, you can pick up some sand from nearby traders, but plundering will yield a larger haul.

Farming the Unpurchasable and Rare Materials

There are specific materials you can't purchase but can farm or plunder. Here’s a quick rundown:

Green Heart Planks

These are key for shipbuilding, and Deo Lumber Yard is your farming haven:

· Purchase 14 planks.

· Plunder to get up to 30.

· Harvest two trees in the area, one near the Guard Tower and another on a small island nearby.

· Additionally, you can harvest more from the back side of Laa.

A handy route: After plundering, loop around the Shipwreck nearby and repeat the circuit. In around 20 minutes, you can fill a Snow’s Cargo with Green Heart Planks.

Magnetite

To gather Magnetite, head to Grand Fallace and follow this route:

· Inner Circle, then Outer Circle, hitting the island northwest of Grand Fallace.

· Teleport over to Dutchman's Camp and make your way along the southern side, hitting inlets and shipwrecks.

Just like with Green Heart Planks, this farm circuit can be repeated to gather Magnetite in large quantities.

Rosel Cloth

The best farming zone for Rosel Cloth is Kok Terong. Plunder around the area and hit the islands to the south. In about 20 minutes, you should fill your Snow’s Cargo with Rosel. There are also some decent spawns on the back side of Ubet, making it a useful stop if you're farming Shark Skins nearby.

Rog Materials: Twine, Orca Mechanisms, and More

Many of these materials can only be purchased for Pieces of Eight, or found in Boss Chests or Convoys. The Murgia World Boss is also a potential source for these rare items.

For more specific hunts:

· Twine and Orca Mechanisms are slim drops from Leest Chests and Ganet Rogues.

· Senu Material can be farmed from Ana Hanana if you're in a group of three. Also, look out for the Risk of the Rising Tide Convoy, which starts near Satrana.

Rare Materials: Dragon Scales, Teeth, and Sharks

For the more monstrous crafting items:

· Dragon Scales and Claws: Only available from the two Elder Dragons and their lesser counterparts.

· Shark Skin: Farm this from the Silent Death and Jaws of Retribution sharks.

· Zabu Skin: Can be plundered from either Harabo or Zamer Harabo.

Shipwreck Farms

If you're looking to farm Salvaged Goods, here's where you should go:

· Elder Cave: This location has several shipwrecks just below the cave, and nearby you can also farm Bombards.

· Camoa State: Sail around the islands near Sya State, plundering shipwrecks and salvaging goods.

Enhanced Repair Kits

For Enhanced Repair Kits (the best in the game), follow this route:

· Start at Isle Michelle and work your way through the East Indies ports. In 20–25 minutes, you can collect 200 level one kits and 200 enhanced kits.

Final Tips for New Pirates

· Farm your basic resources from the major capitals: Wood, Ore, and Cloth are available all over the map.

· Monster Meats come from Zabu and Lari, and Poppy, Juniper, and Tobacco can be farmed through Supply Deals from the East Indies supply routes.

· First Aid Kits: Farm enhanced kits from the East Indies ports, or upgrade the basic kits you purchase.

I hope this guide helps you in your plundering and crafting adventures.
