Path of Exile 3.25 Boss Rush Farming Guide
Today I'll dive deep into one of my favorite and most efficient Path of Exile farming strategies: Boss Rush. If you've been searching for a profitable, relaxing, and relatively easy method to farm in tier 16 and tier 17 maps, Boss Rush might be just the strategy you need.
In this guide, I'll explain the fundamentals of Boss Rush, how to profit from it, and which bosses and maps to focus on. Whether you're at the start of a league or deep into it, I'll provide tips and insights to help you maximize your Path of Exile currency gains.
What is Boss Rush?
As the name suggests, Boss Rush is a farming strategy where you skip the majority of a map's monsters and rush directly to the boss. This technique is especially popular in tier 16 and tier 17 maps, where boss fights are more rewarding.
While you may think skipping regular mobs might hurt your loot potential, the core profitability of this method comes from boss drops—specifically Crucible Splinters, Maven's Writs, and boss fragments. Boss Rush pairs naturally with Maven's influence since she observes boss fights, allowing you to generate additional profits through Maven invitations and related drops.
Now, let's break down the most profitable Boss Rush strategies.
Tier 16 Boss Rush Strategies
In tier 16 maps, the focus is on Crucible Splinters and Maven's Writs, which drop from completing Maven's Invitations. Here's how you can profit in tier 16:
Elder Guardian Boss Rush
One of the most popular strategies in tier 16 is the Elder Guardian Boss Rush. For this method, you need to target the four Elder Guardians: the Eradicator, Purifier, Constrictor, and Enslaver. Each Guardian drops an Elder fragment, which is necessary for summoning the Elder himself. Currently, each fragment is valued at around 17 Chaos Orbs, while maps to spawn these Guardians are priced significantly lower, around 7 Chaos Orbs. This means you can easily profit 10 Chaos Orbs per run by just rushing to the bosses and collecting fragments.
When Maven witnesses all four Elder Guardian bosses, you unlock a Maven Invitation: The Twisted, which gives further loot potential, including Maven's Writs and Crucible Splinters. If you roll this invitation correctly, you can ensure at least five Crucible splinters per run, which adds to your currency generation.
Pros:
High profit from Elder fragments
Consistent Crucible splinters from Maven invitations
Moderate boss difficulty
Cons:
Slower due to the Elder consuming bosses
Shaper Guardian Boss Rush
Another strong tier 16 option is targeting Shaper Guardians: Chimera, Hydra, Phoenix, and Minotaur. Like the Elder Guardians, these bosses drop valuable fragments, but the profit margin is a bit tighter due to map and fragment costs being more aligned.
One major downside of this strategy is that certain bosses, such as Chimera, can have time-consuming mechanics, like invulnerability phases. However, when completed, the Maven Invitation: The Formed provides the same benefits as the Elder Guardians, including Maven's Writs and Crucible Splinters.
Pros:
Access to Shaper fragment farming
Decent profitability
Cons:
Some bosses have time-consuming phases
Less profit margin than Elder Guardians
Generic High-Tier Map Boss Rush
If you're not targeting specific Guardians, you can also focus on regular high-tier maps where bosses are easy to access, like Mesa, Fields, Dunes, or Jungle Valley. These maps allow you to quickly reach and defeat the bosses, and if Maven is witnessing the fight, you'll still earn Maven's Writs and Maven's Chisels.
This method is particularly effective at league start, where even basic rewards can provide decent profits. However, once the economy stabilizes, this method may become less profitable compared to specific Guardian rushes.
Pros:
Easy bosses with minimal mechanics
Fast runs, good for a league start
Cons:
Less overall profit compared to Guardian Rush strategies
Tier 17 Boss Rush Strategies
In tier 17 Boss Rush, the strategy shifts slightly. Maven cannot witness tier 17 maps, so you'll be focusing solely on boss fragments, such as the Decaying Fragment, Reality Fragment, and the most valuable, Devouring Fragment.
Tier 17 maps can drop two fragments per run if you optimize your map and boss fight for maximum quantity. The key to tier 17 Boss Rush lies in ensuring you have a high map quantity. Aim for around 400% quantity, which can be achieved using sacrifices, proper map crafting, and specific atlas passives.
Example of Tier 17 Boss Maps:
Sanctuary: Drops the Reality Fragment
Abomination: Drops the Decaying Fragment
Ziggurat: Drops both the Devouring Fragment and Reality Fragment
Maximizing Quantity in Tier 17 Maps
To consistently drop two fragments instead of one, your map quantity must be as high as possible. Here's how to achieve that:
Use Chisels: Ensure your map is chiseled to 20% quality.
Map Quantity Mods: Roll for high quantity on your maps—aim for at least 100% quantity.
Sacrifice Fragments: Use Sacrifice at Dusk, Sacrifice at Dawn, Sacrifice at Noon, and Sacrifice at Midnight to further increase map quantity.
Atlas Passives: Choose passives that boost boss drops and map quantity, such as Shaping the World and Amplified Energies.
By doing this, you're guaranteed to get two fragments per boss kill, which significantly boosts your profit margins in tier 17.
Pros:
Extremely profitable with proper setup
High-value fragment drops
Cons:
Requires more setup (high quantity maps, sacrifices)
No Maven influence or additional splinters
Cyrus and Elder Slayer Boss Rush
A more niche strategy involves farming Cyrus's Elder Slayer Guardians, including Baran, Veritania, Al-Hezmin, and Drox. These Guardians drop their respective fragments, but the maps required to spawn them can sometimes cost more than the fragments themselves. The profit potential here mainly comes from the chance to drop their unique Orbs (e.g., Redeemer's Exalted Orb), though the drop rates are relatively low.
This strategy is riskier, but with the right drops, you can make substantial profits.
Pros:
High profit potential with Orb drops
Fast runs
Cons:
Riskier due to high map costs
Low drop rate for Orbs
Memory Boss Rush
Lastly, Memory Boss Rush focuses on running Synthesized maps and memories. These maps don't drop standard boss fragments but have a chance to drop valuable items such as the Cortex map, which can sell for 30–40 Chaos Orbs or more, depending on the league's economy.
While not as efficient as pure boss farming, this strategy allows for the chance to farm rare and valuable drops.
Pros:
Chance for high-value drops like Cortex
Potential for divination cards and other unique loot
Cons:
Requires more map clearing than standard Boss Rush
Less consistent profit
Final Thoughts
Boss Rush remains one of the most consistent and profitable strategies in Path of Exile 3.25, whether you're rushing through tier 16 or tier 17 maps. If you're looking for a laid-back yet lucrative method to generate currency, the Elder Guardian Boss Rush and tier 17 fragment farming stand out as top options. Always check the market prices for fragments and maps to ensure you're making the most out of your efforts.
