Elden Ring: 3-in-1 Frostbite, Beast Claw Build with Bleed & Fire

Jul 23, 2024, 09:11:55 PST | Categories : Elden Ring |

Hey guys, it's Paradise! You might not know this, but there's a way to get fire, frostbite, and bleed all in one build, and it deletes bosses. If you love seeing huge damage chunks, then you need to try out this three-in-one Beast Claw build. When we saw that the Beast Claws were being introduced in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, we knew we would fall in love with them. The base moveset basically turns you into Wolverine from X-Men, and even the base Ash of War on the weapon is nuts as you basically just claw around the screen rapidly, making it great for rapid-hitting builds.

Currently, there's a lot of bleed builds for these Beast Claws, and it's for good reason because they excel at inflicting bleed due to the rapid successive attacks. There are only two of them in the game: the Red Bear's Claw, which is a unique weapon dropped by the boss of the Northern Nameless Melum, and the Beast Claw, which is more customizable as it's infusible with Ashes of War. By messing around with the infusions of the Beast Claws, we discovered a way to create a build that doesn't feel busted but is just straight-up cool, using some of the lesser-known mechanics of the game. This build includes three statuses that you can inflict, but don't get it wrongthe damage on this is still busted levels of good. It's basically the ultimate unga-bunga build but more unique than some of the core meta builds going around. So, let's show you how it works!

The Mechanics Behind the Build

This build uses a lesser-known mechanic to really kick its damage up, revolving around frostbite. If you've experimented with frostbite, it can feel a bit underwhelming compared to bleed. This is because, compared to bleed, it's harder to proc due to the fact that frostbite leaves a debuff on the enemy. The debuff is good as it means the enemy takes 20% more damage, but while it's active, you cannot build frostbite up again to proc the initial burst of damage until the debuff has ended. This is completely different from bleed builds where, as soon as you proc the bleed, there isn't a lingering debuff, so you can just build up straight again and repeat.

However, there's a trick to get frostbite to act more like bleed: if you use any source of fire damage on a frostbite-inflicted target, then the debuff will be consumed, allowing you to trigger it again and build it up to proc just like bleed. With this in mind, we thought about some of the most reliable ways of getting both elements of fire and ice into the build. It looks like the Beast Claws were kind of made for this. Through their scaling, they mostly scale with strength, even when set to fire or cold. This means, unlike other weapons, you can have both of these dual elements without having the massive trade-off in damage of having to spread your stats out or focus purely on one or making some kind of hybrid build.

How to Set Up the Build

The method we landed on was to power stance them. When you do this, you retain the normal combo moveset of the Beast Claws, like when you just use one of them and equip it in both hands. This means, by using two separate versions of the weapon Elden Ring items, you can slash with both elements, building up the frostbite and then instantly removing it with the fire damage of your other weapon to start building up the next one immediately. Getting two of the same weapon can be tricky, so you can get a friend to drop you one or use New Game Plus. There are so many dual weapon builds out there that you're probably used to this by now. However, trust us, this build is super fun and worth it. We've tried it against a straight-up bleed build with a single Beast Claw or different elemental combos, and they just didn't hit as hard as this build.

Equipment and Infusions

1. Left Hand Weapon: Beast Claw with fire element.

     • This scales with C in strength and E in dexterity.

     • Use any Ash of War you want on this off-hand; it doesn't really matter.

2. Right Hand Weapon: Beast Claw with cold infusion.

     • This arm hits more than the left arm, allowing you to build up the frostbite faster.

     • Apply the Endure Ash of War on this hand to massively boost your poise and give you damage reduction.

Playstyle

In combat, you need to remember to use the power stance attack button (L1) rather than the usual R1. After this, there isn't much else to say because all you need to do is whale on enemies. However, keep an eye on your health bar because, of course, you aren't invincible. Since you are power stancing two of the weapons, you will consume more stamina, so remember to back off when you get low or cast Endure so you can tank the hits.

This build is great because we mainly focus on strength for damage, meaning we're not a hybrid build. This allows us to have some extra points to put into faith, allowing us to use buffs like Golden Vow, Flame Grant Me Strength, and Beastial Vitality, which will make us hit even harder and be a bit more tanky.

When focusing on bosses, you want to keep the pressure up and proc as many statuses as possible to get those big chunks of damage. You're going to trigger both bleed and frostbite procs on the enemy, meaning you deal huge chunks of damage. Something else to point out is that this build works really well for your mimic. The mimic is actually competent in battle with the Beast Claws, even more so than some other weapon types. It's really funny to just watch them go ham on bosses for you. The mimic will aid you in building up both of these statuses on the boss, so using the mimic with this build is a win-win.

Items Needed for the Build

1. Beast Claws: Can be found very close to the start of the DLC.

     • Head to the first Site of Grace in the DLC in the Grave Site Plains.

     • From here, head southeast to find an NPC called Logar. Defeat him to obtain the Beast Claws.

2. Seal: Clawmark Seal for buffing with Golden Vow, Flame Grant Me Strength, and Beastial Vitality.

Talismans, Armor, and Flask Mix

1. Rotten Winged Sword Insignia: Gives an incrementally increasing attack buff of 6%, 8%, and 13%.

2. Millicent's Prosthesis: Plus five dexterity and an incremental attack power boost of 4%, 6%, and 11%. This stacks with the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia.

3. Lord of Blood's Exultation: A nice 20% damage buff for 20 seconds when bleed procs.

4. Two-Headed Turtle Talisman: Massive bonus to stamina recovery.

5. Stats:

     • Vigor: 50-60

     • Mind: 20-25

     • Endurance: 20-25

     • Strength: 80

     • Dexterity: 12 (weapon requirement)

     • Intelligence and Arcane: Dump

     • Faith: 25 (for Golden Vow buff)

6. Armor:

     • Helmet: White Mask (boosts damage when bleed procs).

     • Armor Set: Rakshasa's Armor Set (boosts overall damage).

7. Wondrous Physick Mix:

     • Blood-sucking Cracked Tear: 20% attack power boost.

     • Thorny Cracked Tear: Boosts attack with successive hits.

Conclusion

This build is super exciting as it uses a new weapon type with a bunch of unique features. It allows you to inflict multiple statuses rapidly, dealing massive damage to bosses and enemies alike. Give this build a try and let us know your thoughts.
