Diablo 4 Season 6: Guide to Efficient Leveling and Progression

Sep 07, 2024, 09:46:48 PST | Categories : Diablo 4 |

As we anticipate the release of Season 6, also known as the Season of Hatred, there are significant updates to the game that will likely make leveling up easier than in previous seasons. In this article, I’ll guide you through the leveling process, explain the new mechanics, and share tips on how to get from level 1 to 60 quickly, ensuring you make the most of the upcoming expansion.

The New Expansion and Campaign

When the Diablo 4 expansion drops, most players, including myself, will likely start with the new campaign. While some may choose to race to max level, I recommend taking the time to enjoy the campaign at least once. After all, this expansion promises a lot of fresh content, including a new region called Nantu and a darker theme centered around the concept of hatred.

After completing the campaign, players will embark on the Season 6 journey, which introduces the Season of Hatred. The core mechanic of this season revolves around killing enemies that spawn portals, through which players can venture into new areas for additional rewards. While we’re still waiting on exact details, this mechanic looks promising for both leveling and gathering resources.

Fast Leveling Strategy: From 1 to 60

Based on my latest tests, leveling up in Season 6 will be smoother than ever. I ran a practice session from level 1 to 60 in 3 hours and 15 minutes using a Sorcerer, and I’m confident it can be done faster with optimized builds and strategies. Necromancers, in particular, could potentially shave off even more time and Diablo 4 gold due to their strong early-game performance.

Here’s a breakdown of the process I followed, which will likely be the fastest path to 60 in the upcoming season:

Step 1: Campaign and Seasonal Questline

If you’re starting fresh, you’ll likely go through the campaign first. This is a great opportunity to experience the new content and lore. Afterward, complete the Season 6 questline, which will introduce the new mechanics and provide a foundation for your journey through the Season of Hatred.

Step 2: Leveling from 1 to 37

Once the campaign and questline are done, the next step is to focus on reaching level 37. At this point in the season, the most effective leveling methods will revolve around Hell Tides and PvP zones.

Hell Tides and PvP Zones

Hell Tides remain one of the fastest ways to accumulate XP, especially early in the season. Focus on hunting elite enemies and looting cursed chests to gather experience quickly.

Alternatively, PvP zones are also a solid option, particularly if you can take down the PvP bosses. Defeating these bosses grants Grim Favors, which can be turned in at the Tree of Whispers for significant rewards, including Nightmare Dungeon keys and sigils. By turning in these Grim Favors, you’ll unlock the next stage of the leveling process.

Nightmare Dungeons

Once you have access to Nightmare Dungeons, run these repeatedly until you reach level 37. They provide excellent experience and materials to build up your character. Additionally, completing Nightmare Dungeons will drop important resources for future stages of progression.

Remember to gather your class mechanic around levels 15 and 25. For example, Necromancers should unlock and upgrade their Book of the Dead, and Sorcerers should focus on improving their enchantment slots.

Step 3: Power Leveling from 37 to 60: Strongholds

After hitting level 37, the most efficient method to level up is by clearing Strongholds. Strongholds have been updated in Season 6, and their turn-ins offer massive experience gains, making them the fastest route from level 37 to 60.

Simply ride around the map, clearing all the strongholds in the five regions of Sanctuary. With the introduction of the new region, Nantu, you’ll have even more strongholds to tackle. In my tests, I was able to clear all strongholds in about an hour, and the XP gains from turn-ins were enough to propel my character from level 37 to 60.

One key point here is that the XP from stronghold turn-ins remains the same regardless of difficulty. Therefore, I recommend dropping the difficulty to Normal or Hard after hitting level 37 to speed up your runs. There’s no need to waste time fighting tougher enemies when the rewards are the same!

Step 4: Transition to Endgame (Level 60+)

Once you hit level 60, your focus will shift to Torment 1 and beyond. Even a fresh level 60 with basic gear can jump straight into Pit 20 and start farming Torment 1. This difficulty offers valuable rewards, including Diablo IV materials for Masterworking your gear and hunting for rare drops.

While Torment 1 is relatively easy, it’s important to move up to higher difficulties like Torment 4 when possible. The difference in loot is significant. For example, on Torment 1, bosses typically drop one unique item, but on Torment 4, they can drop up to five. Additionally, Nightmare Dungeons in higher difficulties provide more Masterworking materials, which are essential for gearing up.

Farming Strategies: Hell Tides, Nightmare Dungeons, and More

At this point in your progression, you have several farming options:

· Hell Tides are excellent for farming Exoy Blood and Living Steel, both crucial for summoning powerful bosses like Grigor. Additionally, Hell Tides offer various high-tier loot drops.

· Nightmare Dungeons remain one of the best sources for Distilled Fear and Masterworking materials. These dungeons are scalable, so you can continue farming them as you push higher difficulties.

· World Bosses and Party Finder: One of the best ways to efficiently farm endgame materials and loot is through party finder. Team up with others to take down Uber bosses like Zer. Sharing loot in a party can significantly speed up your progression, as you’ll gain multiple kills for the same effort.

Season 6 Mechanics: Infernal Hordes and Seasonal Activities

While the core leveling strategy remains focused on Hell Tides and Nightmare Dungeons, Season 6 will introduce new mechanics like Infernal Hordes. These hordes are expected to provide additional challenges and rewards, similar to Malignant Tunnels from previous seasons.

We’re also looking forward to seeing how the Season of Hatred mechanics, such as portal spawning after killing enemies, will play into the leveling process. These could offer new ways to farm XP and resources, so stay tuned for updates.

Conclusion: Optimizing Your Diablo 4 Season 6 Progression

With the changes in Season 6, leveling in Diablo 4 is set to be faster and more streamlined than ever before. By following this guide, you can expect to hit level 60 in just a few hours, allowing you to dive into the endgame content and begin farming for powerful Diablo 4 items and materials.

As we continue to explore the new mechanics and content, I’ll be updating my guides with the most efficient strategies. Until then, get ready to conquer the Season of Hatred and enjoy the new expansion to the fullest! Keep an eye out for more updates and videos coming your way every day.
