The Juggernaut Javazon Build in Diablo 2: Resurrected
Today we’re diving deep into a unique Javazon build that I’ve been refining. If you’re looking for a tanky, survival-focused Amazon build that pushes the limits of sustain and synergy, this one’s for you.
Now, let’s dive into this Javazon build, which is not your typical glass cannon that throws Lightning Fury and destroys everything. Instead, we’re focusing on survivability, replenished life, and some sneaky synergies that make this Amazon tougher than you’d expect.
The Problem with Standard Javazons
Before we jump into the build, let’s discuss why we’ve taken this off-meta approach. In traditional Javazon builds, you’re looking to maximize offensive stats like Lightning Fury and Charged Strike to tear through mobs. However, the survivability on these builds is often lacking. As a result, even though the Amazon can deal tremendous amounts of damage, she struggles in higher difficulties, especially without a reliable way to heal or avoid damage.
In this version of the Javazon, we focus on balancing out offense and defense while introducing synergies that keep the Amazon alive in long fights.
Introducing the Prayer Aura Synergy
The core of this build revolves around a Prayer Mercenary paired with Insight and Cleansing Aura. If you’re unfamiliar with these mechanics, the Prayer Aura from the mercenary continuously heals your character, and the synergy with Cleansing further enhances the healing process by reducing the time negative effects, like poison and curses, linger.
Here’s where it gets interesting: By equipping a Cure Helm (which provides Cleansing Aura) on my Mercenary, I discovered an unexpected synergy between Prayer, Cleansing, and Meditation (from Insight). This triple-aura combination seems to stack in some mysterious way, amplifying the healing beyond what’s immediately visible on the character sheet.
The result? A near-constant replenishment of life, keeping the Javazon alive even in the toughest situations. In addition, Meditation ensures your Mana remains topped off, which is crucial when spamming Lightning Fury or Charged Strike.
Gear Breakdown
Let’s go over the key gear choices that make this build shine:
Mercenary Gear:
· Cure Helm (Shael-Io-Tal): Provides the Cleansing Aura to help with poison and curse reduction, making this a vital part of the synergy with Prayer.
· Insight (in an Ethereal Elite Polearm): This rune word gives the Meditation Aura, which, combined with Prayer, boosts both health and mana regeneration. You can’t see all the synergies in the character sheet, but trust me, the healing is real.
· Treachery Armor: The Fade proc helps with survivability, giving massive resistances and damage reduction. However, we’ll likely switch to Chains of Honor in the future for better resistances and some much-needed life leech.
Amazon Gear:
· Titans Revenge: This is the bread and butter for any Javazon build. The bonus to Javelin skills and attributes makes this D2R items indispensable for dishing out massive damage while staying agile.
· Stormshield: This shield gives us a whopping 35% physical damage reduction. Combined with the Crown of Ages (which gives another 15% damage reduction), you’re hitting the 50% cap for physical damage reduction, making this Amazon an absolute tank.
· Thunder God’s Vigor: This belt is great for boosting survivability with Lightning Absorb and extra vitality. The added +10% to Max Lightning Res means lightning-heavy bosses like Mephisto or Diablo Clone have a harder time bringing you down.
· Dwarf Star: Fire Absorb is crucial, especially when running into high-level fire damage enemies or even in Uber Tristram.
Rings and Amulets:
· The Rising Sun: This amulet not only gives +2 to all skills but also adds Fire Absorb, providing another layer of protection against fire damage. Additionally, it has replenish life, which stacks nicely with the Prayer Aura synergy.
This setup makes for a pretty tanky Javazon that can still dish out respectable damage while sustaining itself with ease.
How Does It Play?
Now, let’s talk about how this Amazon plays in practice. With Prayer, Cleansing, and Meditation auras from the mercenary, you’ll notice that your health consistently replenishes, even in intense fights. For example, while farming Travincal or facing Diablo Clone, this build can tank through significant incoming damage while slowly regenerating life.
Even though this isn’t the most offensive build out there, you won’t be running into trouble often, especially in Players 1 difficulty. For Players 8, you might need to be a bit more cautious as the damage ramps up, but the sustain is still noticeable.
Synergy Between Auras: Is It Real?
A question I’ve been pondering (and I need the community's help here) is the exact synergy between Prayer, Cleansing, and Meditation. It seems there’s something going on under the hood that’s not visible in the character sheet. As we know, Prayer heals you, and Meditation boosts mana regeneration. However, when combined with Cleansing, there’s an unusual amount of life regeneration happening. It’s hard to tell if the healing from Prayer is somehow doubled or enhanced by Cleansing or Meditation.
If anyone can confirm what’s going on with this synergy, let me know in the comments below. I’d love to dive deeper into this and really flesh out what’s happening from a technical standpoint.
Future Improvements to the Build
As good as this build is, there are a few tweaks that could make it even better. Here’s what I’m planning to experiment with in future videos:
1. Chains of Honor for the Mercenary: The lack of Life Leech on my merc is currently a weakness. Switching to Chains of Honor will solve that problem while also maxing out his resistances.
2. More Pierce for the Amazon: Currently, I have 91% Pierce, which isn’t bad, but it could be improved. I don’t use Razortail or Wisdom Helm, so I’ll likely invest a bit more in Pierce to hit that sweet 100%.
3. Griffon’s Eye: If we’re going for pure lightning damage, Griffon’s Eye with a perfect Lightning Facet would push our damage to the next level. This would come in handy for areas like Uber Tristram, where burst damage can help more than sustain.
4. Poison Small Charm: To fix the small gap in Poison Resistance, a single poison small charm will cap out my resists. This small tweak will make a significant difference, especially in high-level content like Hell Chaos Runs or Uber Tristram.
Conclusion
This Juggernaut Javazon build is a perfect blend of tankiness, survivability, and respectable damage output. While it doesn’t follow the traditional glass cannon approach, it offers a refreshing playstyle focused on outlasting your enemies. With unique synergies between auras, careful gear selection, and thoughtful planning, this build can face Diablo Clone, Uber Tristram, and other high-level challenges head-on.
