Top 10 favorite items for Diablo II: Resurrected
Today, we're diving into my top 10 favorite Diablo II: Resurrected items. This list is not in any particular order, and some of these items might be controversial, but they've all brought me immense pleasure throughout my years of playing. Let's dive in!
1. Breath of the Dying
First on the list is the iconic Breath of the Dying. This weapon is an absolute beast when made in a Berserker Axe, attacking incredibly fast with an impressive range. The first time I acquired one, it was in a Colossus Sword, and I remember the thrill. Breath of the Dying epitomizes the peak of loot hunting in Diablo II. The moment I saw the ethereal base, I knew I had something special.
The ethereal appearance, combined with its stats, makes it feel like wielding a piece of legendary equipment. With massive mana and life leech, incredible damage, and +30 to all attributes, it turns you into a juggernaut. The 50% chance to cast Poison Nova adds to its fireworks, making every swing a spectacle. Breath of the Dying is an item that exudes power and looks stunning in the game.
2. Griffon's Eye
Next up is Griffon's Eye, a must-have for any Javazon. This item enhances lightning skills and provides lightning resistance pierce, essential for tearing through enemies. I remember the first time I found a Griffon's Eye in the Pit Level 2—it was an exhilarating experience. The lightning Pierce combined with lightning skill damage makes you feel like Thor, obliterating everything in your path.
With the right gear setup, like Infinity on the Mercenary and an Enigma for mobility, Griffon's Eye turns your Javazon into a lightning god. The combination of +1 to all skills, faster cast rate, and the all-important lightning pierce is unparalleled for a lightning-based character.
3. Shako (Harlequin Crest)
Although it might be mainstream, the Shako or Harlequin Crest deserves its place on this list. The Shako is a quintessential item that provides +2 to all skills, a significant boost to life and mana, and a 10% damage reduction. Finding a Shako, especially early in a ladder season, is always a highlight. It's versatile and invaluable for almost any build, making it a staple in Diablo II: Resurrected.
4. Silkweave Boots
Silkweave Boots might not be everyone's favorite, but they hold a special place for me. The Mana after each kill is a lifesaver for characters like the Javazon and sorceresses who constantly struggle with mana issues. Pairing Silkweave Boots with an Insight mercenary allows you to maintain a consistent mana pool, making gameplay smoother and more enjoyable. The 30% faster run/walk and increased maximum mana are added bonuses that make these boots incredibly useful.
5. Tyrael's Might
Tyrael's Might is another collector's item that's extremely rare and practical. Its appeal lies in its rarity and the fact that it has no strength requirement, making it accessible at level 84 regardless of your character's strength. The 30% faster run/walk, all resistances, and Cannot Be Frozen mod make it highly desirable. It's a piece of armor that embodies the thrill of the hunt in Diablo II.
6. Enigma
No list would be complete without Enigma. This Rune Word offers unparalleled mobility with its teleport ability, making it essential for any serious player. The +2 to all skills, increased run/walk speed, and magic find are just the icing on the cake. Enigma turns any character into a powerhouse, allowing for efficient farming and gameplay. It's a game-changing item that opens up endless possibilities.
7. Infinity
Infinity is a transformative weapon for your mercenary, especially when playing a lightning-based character. The Conviction aura it provides reduces enemy resistance, making it possible to break immunities and deal massive damage. Coupled with items like Griffon's Eye, Infinity turns your character into a force of nature, capable of decimating enemies in areas like the Chaos Sanctuary.
8. Phoenix (Monarch Shield)
The Phoenix Rune Word in a Monarch Shield is another favorite of mine. The Redemption aura it provides constantly restores your health and mana, giving you incredible sustainability. The enhanced damage and the -28% to enemy fire resistance make it perfect for fire-based builds. Watching your life and mana bars fill up as you obliterate enemies is a satisfying experience that Phoenix delivers.
9. Call to Arms (CTA)
Call to Arms is a must-have for its Battle Orders skill, which boosts your life and mana significantly. This weapon is a staple for any character, providing a substantial buff that enhances your survivability and overall effectiveness. The ability to switch to CTA and cast Battle Orders before switching back to your main weapon setup is a strategy that every seasoned player utilizes.
10. Heart of the Oak (HOTO)
Lastly, Heart of the Oak is an exceptional weapon for any caster. With +3 to all skills, faster cast rate, and a huge boost to resistances, HOTO is indispensable for sorceresses, druids, and any character relying on spells. The mana boost and replenish life also contribute to its status as a top-tier item. Crafting a HOTO and feeling the immediate improvement in your character's performance is an unforgettable moment.
These are my top 10 favorite D2R items, each holding a special place due to their power, rarity, and the joy they bring to the gameplay experience. Whether it's the raw power of Breath of the Dying, the utility of Enigma, or the transformative Conviction aura from Infinity, each item on this list has contributed to countless memorable moments in the game.
